"Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you."

Today was a beautiful South Florida day. We went out to the beach for lunch and a stroll (Baby J was in
his new Joovy Groove umbrella stroller). We ate lunch at a restaurant just steps from the sand. The breeze was blowing our hair around our faces. It wasn't too hot to be sweaty, and not chilly enough to need a sweater. It was just right.
Our food was delicious. I had a chicken mozzarella caprese sandwich with tomato aioli sauce (ummm, YUM!). My husband had jambalaya (he loves that!). Baby J had a Plum Organic pouch of peaches and other fruits...he seemed to think it was quite delicious :)
After lunch, we walked out onto the pier. The baby loved the breeze. He was laughing and smiling the whole time. He liked the subtle bumping of the wooden boards underneath his stroller wheels. We sat down on a bench for a minute. We soaked in the smell of the salt air, the warmth of the sun on our skin, the cherub-like smile from chubby baby cheek to cheek on the face of our son.
Then we walked up-and-down the sidewalk parallel to the beach. The baby fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean and people walking to-and-from the sand.
It really was a perfect day. I think if I had to describe a perfect day, this would likely be it. Surrounded by the men I love, on the beach, with yummy food. In my fantasy though, the calories wouldn't count. A girl can dream, right?!
As we were sitting on the bench on the pier, I had a wave of a new feeling come over me. I realized that today I was totally content. For so long in my life, things didn't seem to be right. I was always waiting to get to the good parts...to get through the rough patches. I'm pretty sure everyone is guilty for wanting more, or better things. "If I only had ____. If I could only lose 10 pounds. My life will be better when____." I didn't have any of those sinking thoughts today.
Being content is a new feeling for me. It is a welcome feeling. I am so blessed to be who I am and where I am in my life, with who I am surrounded by. No feeling can ever come close to that.

you're really quite lucky!"
